Statement from the TSB on the removal of transportation of flammable liquids by rail from Watchlist 2018
Gatineau, Quebec,
—
Some concern has been expressed recently about the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB)’s removal of the issue of transportation of flammable liquids by rail from Watchlist 2018.
The TSB has explained its decision in letters to the Fédération québécoise des municipalités and The Hill Times.
The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
