Investigation report: Striking of a wharf

Québec, Quebec, 1 November 2019 – Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report (M19C0043) on the 25 February 2019 striking of a wharf while berthing that involved the ferry Apollo in Godbout, Quebec.

The TSB conducted a limited-scope, fact-gathering investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues. See the investigation page for further information.

The occurrence involving Apollo that took place on 16 March 2019 in Matane, Quebec, is the subject of a separate investigation (M19C0054). This investigation is ongoing.


The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
